Dr. Karen Bright
Dr. Karen E. Bright has participated in the education of students and families for more than three decades. She’s served her communities as a mathematics teacher, administrator, professor, corporate consultant, and executive program director and school developer, in Dayton, Chicago, Pittsburgh, and Minneapolis.
Dr. Bright attended The Ohio State University where she earned a B.S. in Education in 1968, and an M.A. in Curriculum & Instruction in 1981, with certificates in Supervision and Leadership from Xavier University. In 1994, she was awarded the Doctor of Education in Career and Technical Education from the University of Minnesota.
Dr. Bright provided key research and development to the University of Minnesota and the Pillsbury Co. for the development of a University Presidential Opportunity Program, which served as a model for subsequent high school-university programs for urban students and families in Minneapolis, MN. In addition, she provided leadership and development for the establishment of the Omega School of Excellence, 2000-2004.
Bright continued her work with students and families by establishing her company,
KBright & Associates, in 2004. The focus of the company is to equip families with knowledge and power to make “right choices” for preparing for college.
Karen joined the PACE Team as the Education Consultant in 2006. Her focus fits perfectly with the focus of PACE-“Educating parents so they can better educate their children.”
Karen is a member of the Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, serving through education and service projects, impacting our ever changing world. She is also a member of
Black Alliance for Educational Options (BAEO) a national organization which advocates for school choice. In addition, Bright continues to follow and do research in curriculum through membership in the
Association of Curriculum and Development.
In 2005 and 2006, Dr. Bright was listed in the “Who’s Who Among Outstanding Educators.”
Dr. Bright serves as a Sunday School teacher, member of CAPP scholarship ministry, and member of the Omega Baptist Church. She is a volunteer and visits with seniors and youth in her community to stay in touch with her past as well her future. She continues to mentor former students and assist them and their families through college preparation, planning, and “just being there.”
Karen agrees with Barack Obama, “We are the ones we have been waiting for.”
